Wei Cui is a visiting scholar from Beijing, China. He is a professorate senior engineer, working for the Department of Hydraulics at the China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR). He spent 9-years at the Wuhan University, Wuhan, China receiving a Ph.D. in Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering in 2006. Dr. Cui is a registered consulting engineer of the China National Association of Engineering Consultants. He is also a member of the Beijing Ecological Restoration Society, Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society, and China River Restoration Net. His main research interests are open channel hydraulics, stream restoration, and urban water management. In the past decade, he has devoted his research efforts on the operation and hydraulic control of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project in China. Also, he undertook many consulting projects on urban flood management, urban water system planning, ecosystem health assessment, ecological engineering, etc. At UGA, his research focuses of water-centered planning for sustainability and resilience. In his spare time, he likes to play badminton and table tennis with friends. Nowadays he more enjoys quality time with his wife, son, and beautiful baby daughter.
