Will grew up in Athens, Georgia spending most of his free time enjoying the outdoors of northeast Georgia. Becoming a Dawg was an easy choice, as well as pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Ecology. As Will watched the Athens area grow, he saw firsthand the impact urban development had on the natural areas he spent much of his time in. This realization motivated Will to focus on the sustainability and conservation of aquatic ecosystems. During his undergraduate studies, he worked on restoring riparian vegetation around streams on UGA’s campus and analyzed the water quality of local lakes. Will is planning on combining his Ecology degree with a Master’s in Environmental Engineering. In working with Dr. Bledsoe, he hopes to study how new infrastructure can function properly while still benefiting aquatic ecosystems. When Will isn’t pursuing his studies, he enjoys fishing, camping, hiking, and cheering on the Dawgs.
